Sergio
Nascimento comes to The Family Practice with over 20 years of experience
in the computer and commerce industries. As a Brazilian native, he
received his education in Austria, earning his degree in Computer
Science and Applied Economics from the University of Vienna, and
receiving a specialty in International Trade at Vienna’s University
of Economics.
In
Europe during the 1980’s, Mr. Nascimento held middle and top
positions for several large transport companies and founded an Austrian
/ Slovenian firm where he developed computer applications for shipping
operations and container logistics in non-port countries.
When
Mr. Nascimento returned to Brazil in the early 1990’s, he worked
as an IT consultant and was later recruited by the Brazilian government
to serve as the Information and Technology Advisor to the Secretary
of Finance in the state of Tocantins. During his tenure there, he
was instrumental in modernizing the computer systems of the Office
of Finance and coordinated the development of computer applications
that assisted in the management and collection of state income and
sales taxes for tighter budget controls.
Consequently,
Mr. Nascimento was invited to join the University Tocantins
as the Presidential Adviser for Special Projects. While there, he
developed several computer systems to upgrade the university’s operations
in the fields of education, research and human resources. He also
oversaw several community outreach projects including a distance-learning
project that broadcast graduate classes live, via closed satellite
television to over 15,000 students in 139 cities.
He
moved to the U.S. in 2001 and joined The Family Practice where
he serves as its Webmaster and Shipping Coordinator. Mr. Nascimento
uses his expertise to develop computer and systems efficiency
programs, like the Seminar Administration System, and to help spread
The Family Practice and LCfE visions via electronic media.
Recently,
Mr. Nascimento was inducted into The International High IQ
Society as its 302nd member. In his spare time,
he devotes his attention to many worthy causes including The
Brazilian Friends Society in Atlanta, and the Save the Amazon
Association in Atlanta (which he founded). He has also developed
a web site administration company dedicated to launching websites
that will impact and educate Brazilian and Hispanic expatriates.
